chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 (edited) theres other arnett items which utilize this same title, i know. the one im talking about was issued sometime in 1989 or soon thereafter i guess, although it appears on looking at the whole thing to appear to be more vintage than that. (it mentions in the notes arnetts death in 1989) ok when i bought this, i was NEEEEEEVER expecting it to be a FUNK date. but thats what it is. song #1 so far its been the flat out FUNK, now its mutating into some kind of bossa-funk jam. i had no idea arnett would ever be into this. the label address is a po box in Houston TX. the notes mention arnett liked to chill at home and jam after comming off the road, and this session is from one of those times. from 1971. the 1st song is called "Medussa", the one im freaking out about. song #2 is now a ballad. later on the session he will cover "doxy" oh my god song #4 "bobbys blues" is the straight-up FUNK again, omggggg, arnett is killin it: 1970s style :excited: you GOTTA believe me i had NO clue this was going to be like this Edited June 2, 2011 by chewy Quote

JSngry Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 Bottom line - this Roy C. Ames cat took some tapes that he never paid the players for, licensed them to Collectables, and then got sued because he was a proven slime ball. No matter, though, it is a damn fine album. Jsngry do u know this dude? now i am ready to say it: omg No, I know none of these people, just some of their stories. Quote

Yet you knew this was a '70s recording? I don't know, I want to trust you... But somewhere out there is the unreleased tape of Hank Mobley Plays Saturday Night Fever... Quote
JSngry Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 somewhere out there is the unreleased tape of Hank Mobley Plays Saturday Night Fever... Yeah, it's Hank blowing over the Lionel Hampton Laurie tracks. Hamp leased Hank the tracks, cash money up front, no questions, no regrets, no paper, no names on or in the paper, the way that music should be conducted. Quote
