ghost of miles Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 Does anybody have Dusty Springfield's recording of Jimmy Webb's "Magic Garden"? I believe it's on the 3-CD ANTHOLOGY, and it's also on an import called CLASSIC SOUL. I just tried to buy the mp3 from Amazon UK for a show I'm working on, but wasn't allowed to because of geographical restrictions. If anybody has it, could he or she drop me a PM? Many thanks in advance for any help on this one. Quote
JSngry Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 UK iTunes has it: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/sings-classic-soul/id14282157 Might have the same problem there though... Quote
JSngry Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 Now I'm curious to hear the 5th Dimension album of the same name...appears to have been a Jimmy Webb concept album with the 5D as vocal executors. One minor hit off of it, "Paper Cup" (which I remember as being really "sunshiny" but also really quirky lyrically), but the album appears to have not done well commercially which could mean anything..., Quote

Sunshine pop until you listen to the lyrics, about alienation and isolation, which include: And everybody says I'm quite insane And someday I'll be going down the drain I know they're right But I feel no pain Here inside my paper cup Everything is looking up No one goes out, no one comes in It's lookin just like home again I'm free and it's so easy to get The things I've always wanted 'Cause I don't really want 'em anymore Living ain't so bad without a rudder Life is kind a groovy in the gutter If you know how, and I do So if you'd like to come along We'll sing a little paper song About a lonely paper plate Who couldn't find a paper mate I'm free, yes, I'm free Quote
