re- THE FLIP/Hank Mobley

Recommended Posts

The session was produced by Francis Wolff who supervised the whole thing during a trip to France.

Another Wolff Produced album was Dexter Gordon's 'Our Man in Paris' with Bud Powell. Recorded in Paris during another Wolff's trip. Mastered by RVG even if his name does not appear on the back cover. The original LP has the VanGelder stamp.

I have had my copy for a long time now. Slide Hampton!!

I was in Maryland 2 weeks ago and spent a day down near the inner harbor at Feld's Point in Baltimore. There are some eclectic shops down there, including a couple used LPs shops.

I spotted another copy of The Flip while in one store. I would have grabbed it but I was on a budget and I already have one copy. I am way past buying back up vinyl copies!

My sister was with me and she offered to by me a couple of LPs for Christmas. Tough call, but I decided on a Grachan Moncur's BYG LP "One Morning I waked up Very Early" and Lockjaw Davis' big band side (Prestige)

The Flip certainly isn't one of Hank's best ones, but I like it for what it is.
