bertrand Posted January 2, 2012 Report Posted January 2, 2012 My son found a free version of the Shazam app. which he downloaded to the iPad. It seems this app. can identify a song by title and peformer, which I assume means it matches against a database of officially available recordings. This is a very good feature which I will no doubt use, but I need something more. I need an app. that is composition-driven. In other words, it will identify a composition even if that particular version is not in the database, but another version of the tune is. My son noticed that there is a version of the app. that you can get for a bucks. Has anyone used the non-free version? Will I be able to get what I need? Even if the software I need does not exist yet, I'm sure it will eventually. Thanks, Bertrand. Quote
Pete C Posted January 2, 2012 Report Posted January 2, 2012 (edited) I think Shazam will only match a specific recording, and I've seen it in action and it works. But I think what you want is Soundhound, which claims to be the only app that identifies songs you sing or hum: http://www.soundhound.com/ Edited January 2, 2012 by Pete C Quote
