AllenLowe Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 just got back from a nice visit with Chris Albertson; his works superbly. But I am troubled by reports that seem to make this a hit or miss thing - some people find it trouble free, others have problems, Looking to see how others have done with it. Quote
GA Russell Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 I have had mine for almost a year. It works much better with my new refurb'd computer, so I guess your processor is relevant. It pays for itself in two months or less, so I would certainly recommend it. Quote
Christiern Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Good to hear that you made it back home in one piece, Allen. I have had two MagicJacks and no problems with either of them. I bought the second one (a MagicJack Plus), because it does not require the computer. It plugs into the AC, with a cable going to the router. The only inconvenience I experienced with the old obe was that the computer had to be turned on. It still received incoming calls and took messages that appeared in my e-mail, but the plus is more independent. Anyway, I highly recommend this little dongleāit is every bit as clear as my old system (Vonage) and those that came before that. The price is unbeatable and if you travel, you can take old Jack with you and enjoy free calls from anywhere. You can even call home free from anywhere if you have a second Jack with you. Quote
AllenLowe Posted March 11, 2012 Author Report Posted March 11, 2012 I have 10.6.8 - probably worth a try - Quote
Pete C Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 I didn't go with Magic Jack because you can't port your number, so I use Callcentric instead. I use it through a softphone on my computer and headset, but you can also buy phones that connect to your modem. http://www.callcentric.com/ Quote
Christiern Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 You can now retain your old number. Quote
Pete C Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 You can now retain your old number. That must have come through within the past year or so. Quote
AllenLowe Posted March 11, 2012 Author Report Posted March 11, 2012 Chris' works great - I have a feeling, from the things I've seen on the net, the more recent the processor, the better the experience. Quote
