mjzee Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 Peter Bergman, a founding member of the surrealist comedy troupe Firesign Theatre, whose albums became cult favorites among college students in the late 1960s and ’70s for a brand of sly, multilayered satire so dense it seemed riddled with non sequiturs until the second, third or 30th listening, died on Friday in Santa Monica, Calif. He was 72. NY Times obituary Quote
Spontooneous Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 Upon reflection, I realize that those guys are an enormous part of the reason I write today. Nothing but gratitude to Peter, and to Phil, Phil and Dave while they're here. Be sure to pop over to the Firesign website and read the closing quote from Peter's last broadcast. Quote
JSngry Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 (edited) I was a huge fan. At their peak, Firesign was genius. RIP, and much thanks. Edited March 12, 2012 by JSngry Quote

BFrank Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 Back in the day used to listen to their albums religiously and recite lines with friends and roomates constantly. Haven't listened to them in too long a time, so I don't remember a lot of the great details, but I'm sure if I stuck a record on the turntable they would all come rushing back to me like a hot kiss on the end of a wet fist. I did manage to see them about 5 years ago and they were still hilarious. Quote
