My doctor says I have signs of early cataracts and early macular degeneration. Typical for my age, according to him. The macular hasn't changed in the past two years, which is a good sign.

I'm trying to take care of my hearing as best I can. Losing sight would be a bitch. If I lost my hearing, I don't know if I'd want to go on.

I think you will experience a great improvement Chuck.

I developed cataracts in both eyes in the last five years and I chose the more advanced multifocal lenses and was able to get rid of glasses that I have been wearing for 40 years.

Yes, it is a bit scary and your eyeball is opened with a scalpel - but one is so drugged that you don't really care.

I recommend this surgery to anyone.

Chuck, be SURE to meticulously follow the rather onerous eyedrop regimen that you have following surgery. That is important to make sure everything turns out ok.

Went in this morning for a checkup and all is fine. I was not able to use the multifocals because one eye has a badly scarred cornea thanks to an attack of shingles. I will need reading glasses.

Am taking all the drops, drops, drops, etc.

Chuck, my Dad had his taken care of in his 50's...he never wore sunglasses , which did apparently speed up the process....It sure is easier these days, though I imagine you are told not to lift anything more than 10-15 pounds for a week or two...Dad said colors were quite different til the 2nd eye was done. One eye saw a blue traffic light, the other eye green! :eye::wacko:
