Hardbopjazz Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 Scorned male fruit flies turn to booze, according to new study Like plenty of dudes I know, male fruit flies who have been sexually rejected turn to booze, a new study shows. According to researchers at the University of California, San Francisco, rejected male fruit flies consumed four times more alcohol than those who had recently mated. "This was just a wild experiment to do," Galit Shohat-Ophir, the lead researcher, told Science, where the findings were published. "We didn't expect to see such dramatic results." Article Quote
Tim McG Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 That certainly would explain why the fruit flies all show up when I'm out on the patio with a glass of wine. Quote
Pete C Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 I was once scorned by a female fruit fly. I got drunk to celebrate. Quote
jazzbo Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 I was scorned by a bar fly once. I was already drunk. Quote
Tim McG Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 (edited) I once knew a guy who thought he could fly when he got stone, sloppy drunk; dove into a pool from his second floor balcony. It was only four feet deep. It wasn't pretty. Edited March 17, 2012 by GoodSpeak Quote
