Dan Gould Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 I do 99% of my listening in the car nowadays, 75 - 90 minutes round trip every weekday plus whatever other driving I do. Its been great for digging into the archives and pulling stuff I haven't heard in years, and now that I am near the end of the latest CD case, I ask my O-buddies to chime in on what the next batch ought to be. (One word of explanation - I did my last large-scale CDR trade probably about 5-6 years ago. I've only listened to about 20% of what I received, there's almost an entire spindle of burns that sits, forgotten, among the jewel boxes. It mostly serves to keep the jewel boxes from tipping over (cheap shelving) but I really ought to listen to the discs at some point. The question to you is, should it go in front or wait a little while longer? And yes, I have no I-Pod and I'm darn happy like that, even if when I get on a plane, I look like a technological troglodyte pulling out my Discman and my book of CDs. Quote
relyles Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 (edited) I have now adopted using a random integer generator program to help me decide what to listen to from my collection. Since I have a database of my collection on an excel spreadsheet, I simply run to program to generate a spefic number of integers that correspond with the location on the spreadsheet. So if I can't decide for myself what to listen to, I certainly can't offer any useful opinions. I also have boxes of CDRs from my misguided days of CDR trades that I have not listened to. A few months ago I started converting them to mp3 with the thought that maybe that would make it easier to work them into the listening schedule and also save space - but the truth is that I rarely listen to mp3s. I am not being helpful, am I? for what it is worth, I would say fill up your case with a random selection of all of it. Edited April 19, 2012 by relyles Quote
John Tapscott Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 I have a 20+ hour round trip coming up in 2 weeks. So I'm also asking myself, "What music will I take to listen to in the car?" I'm travelling solo so that solves one problem. Right now I'm leaning towards CDR's that I've recently received in trade from Board friends. A nice variety of jazz music. Hence, that's my vote for you, Dan. Quote
