It's got its share of wah-wah guitar work and all that but Jimmy burns on it. I wouldn't give up on mine and you know I'm a little fussy with this sort of jazz. It's a keeper. I think Jimmy's playing on it although he stretches out at length, is pretty boring, I mean theres times where he's on auto pilot (which definitely was becoming pretty frequent by then) and just plays a bunch of his favorite licks often. I'd love to see if Verve would reissue Jimmy's "The Boss" with Benson and Donald Bailey, I've heard some stuff on there and it's great. "After Hours" is my favorite track, but "Root Down" sizzles...that is some heavy JB's type groove. And what in the hell were the Beastie Boys thinking!!!
