Hi,

Looking for:

"Message Sent on the Wind" by Peter Sprague (Xanadu)

"Free Bop" by Charles Mcpherson (Xanadu)

"There's Something About an Old Love" by Earl Coleman (Xanadu)

"Just Friends" Chet Baker (Arco)

"Chet on Poetry" Chet Baker (Novus)

Thought I would give it a try; if you have available, drop me a private message.

thanks,

baker

As far as can tell, Peter Sprague's "Message Sent on the Wind" was never issued on CD. It's available either on vinyl or via a download from his website; and I see no evidence elsewhere that a CD was ever issued.

AFAIK, none of the Xanadu titles you're looking for made it CD. Here's a list of CDs that were offered by that label:

Barry Harris - The Bird Of Red And Gold

Al Cohn & Dexter Gordon - True Blue

Bud Powell - Bud In Paris

Art Pepper & Shorty Rogers - Popo

Wynton Kelly - Blues On Purpose

Red Garland - Keystones!

Georgie Auld - Homage

Joe Farrell - Skateboard Park

Jimmy Raney & Sonny Clark - Together

Dolo Coker - California Hard

Charles McPherson - Beautiful!

(Various) - International Jam Sessions

JR Monterose - Straight Ahead

Al Cohn & Jimmy Rowles - Heavy Love

Kenny Dorham - The Kenny Dorham Memorial Album

Sam Most - Mostly Flute

Kenny Drew - Home Is Where The Soul Is

There are more Xanadu titles that made it to CD, though. I'd list the ones I have, but I lost my database in a hard drive crash. Anyway, there were some issued out of Europe, and there was (is?) also a label called 'Prevue' that released quite a few titles some years ago.

Just as an example, I have "Barry Harris Plays Barry Harris" on CD. It was issued out of France in 1990 by the EPM label. The booklet lists about 25 other titles they released at that time.

There were some (very expensive) CDs issued only in Japan. I may have more but a couple I know I have are Billy Mitchell's "De Lawd's Blues" and Sonny Criss's "Saturday Morning". I think that Charles McPherson was one them too but I don't have it. They were priced around $30 each so I was very picky when buying them :)

Thanks for the replies; there are indeed more Xanadu titles; the two I am looking for came out in Japan only (another example from that reissue series = Warne Marsh "Live in Hollywood 1952" w/Hawes & Manne).

In hindsight, I should have been more clear in my post, saying that this was a list of titles that Xanadu issued on CD. Yes, there were a few reissued on Prevue, and some others in Japan.
