Depends on what you prefer. The set has all the master takes and alternates, which might make it a difficult listen if you don't program your CD player. I had most of the original albums on Japanese CDs, but sold them and got the set instead. I have no idea what is still available.

The original albums included in the set are:

West Coast Jazz

Stan Getz and the "Cool" Sounds (only the tracks that were recorded in 1955; the remaining tracks are included in the Hip-O set mentioned below, except for the studio version of a live recording that was mistakenly used)

The Steamer

Award Winner

also included are:

● one track originally issued on The Soft Swing (U.K.)

● one track originally issued on The Verve Collector's Item

● alternates and stuff that was previously unissued in the U.S.

[edit]

If you get the Hip-O 3CD-set Quintets: The Clef and Norgran Studio Albums and East of the Sun you'll have virtually everything Getz recorded for Norman Granz between 1952 and 1957 - the studio recordings, that is, with the exception of a live date that was mistakenly included in the former set instead of the studio recording.
