Big Beat Steve Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 If it were over here it would be sold by now at that price. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 I agree with Steve, though the chrome's a bit manky. What is 'fluid drive', (as mentioned by Chuck Berry, but I never knew)? MG Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) What is 'fluid drive', (as mentioned by Chuck Berry, but I never knew)? MG See below: Pretty much old hat (as far as automatic clutches and transmissions went) by the time Chuck Bery wrote his song ... The Magnificent Goldberg Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 Is it the cogged edge of that round thing or the round thing itself? And is it an early version of automatic transmission? MG Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 It's the round thing itself and it CAN be made into an automatic transmission (with more components) but basically it is a semi-automatic clutch that still requires thed river to step on the clutch pedal for shifting but you cannot stall the car even if you let it coast to standstill in 3rd, for example. See Wikipedia description. Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 It was a stopgap messure until Chrysler Corp could develope a proper fully automatic transmission. Quote
