The John Coltrane Reference is now in paperback, for about a third the cost of the hardcover. You can order it from the usual behemoth:

http://www.amazon.com/John-Coltrane-Reference-NIP/dp/0415634636/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1350544038&sr=1-2&keywords=the+john+coltrane+reference

(Full disclosure: I'm one of the authors.)

I've had my eye on this release for a while now but will be getting the non casebound version (glad I waited) as soon as it's released

I'm ordering from the Book Depository (rel March 22) - they have it for Aus$51.34 with free shipping

There will also be an electronic version, though I'm not sure about the format, the exact release date, or the price. The publisher says their e-books usually come out a couple of months after the paperback.

Assuming you mean the Live Trane box set, co-author Dave Wild summarized it here:

http://www.wildmusic-jazz.com/livetrane.htm

I'm one of the people who originally wrote to Pablo, back in the day, since I had a complete copy of the Birdland tape that they misattribute to Hamburg. I asked them what Symphony Sid and Pee Wee Marquette were doing in Hamburg pretending to do a Birdland broadcast from a German city. Even offered to send them a copy of the tape. They never replied.
