colinmce Posted May 3, 2013 Report Posted May 3, 2013 I'm sure someone here knows this record. I stumbled upon it on DG. Too expensive for me, but I'm sure interested. Particularly worth seeking out, or not so much? http://www.dustygroove.com/item.php?id=rvdjc5bjgs&ref=featured.php&refQ=cat%3D5 Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted May 3, 2013 Report Posted May 3, 2013 Not wanting to discourage you, but looking up the track listing in the discographies and imagining what the title of the LP might hint at (not that rare to see this term used in that era), to me this sounds very much like one of those "mood music" LPs that were turned out ever so often in the 50s featuring sax artists that you normally associate with much meatier and grittier material. Sam The Man Taylor, for example, did several like this. I'll be glad to be proven wrong but somehow have my misgivings. Quote
JSngry Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 You mean like the Marshall Royal side w/Gordon Jenkins? I'd be curious to hear this, just because of Procope's distinct tone. But not sure if I'd want to pay too much for it... Quote
