I caught a set by Stone Alliance in 1979, as a trio w/Alias, Grossman, & I forget who else. It was a type of music I was not all that into at the time, but the set was very appealing.

Can't listen to this all at once, but I sure enjoy how it's starting.

That was Gene Perla playing bass in Stone Alliance - saw them three times, IIRC. Nice guys all, it was Don Alias who showed me how to do the "moose call" on the conga drum .... I miss him. he was such a great spirit in the music.

Due to those darned GEMA restrictions I cannot see the youtube interview ...

IIRC correctly, the trio I saw might not have included Grossman after all...might have been Alias, Perla, and...Kenny Kirkland on Rhodes? Was he around in 1979? It was Newport/NY and a Sunday(?) of daytime street shows...caught Billy Harper the same way, maybe the same day.
