it seems that some lp pressings list "Memories of Coltrane" as 18min instead of 12min.

is this just an error?

Either a mistake or someone had second thoughts and edited the tune. The back cover also claims that "Lumkili" is split across two sides while the label has it on Side B only.

For what it's worth the timing on my Japanese Impulse CD for "Memories of J.W. Coltrane" is 12:51.

Okay, but both labels say 12:51. Pulling out my LP copy, the back cover does say 18 minutes; however, given that the other track on the side is 8 minutes, it's pretty easy to tell from looking at the LP that 12 minutes is correct.

most of the labels on the vinyl copies list "Lumkili" as on side b only. but i found at least one that lists this tune as split across two sides.

it's hard to make out. i saw a better photo yesterday, but can't find it now.

I love the album, especially the long track Healing Song, with is Side 1

The Memories of J.W. Coltrane must be shorter, about 12 minutes, and there is another shorter track I dont remember the title.

But can someone recommend to me similar albums from about that time, I mean after "Karma" and maybe with the same or similar personnel like "Life at the East"?

I can't prove this but I think the track titles of Memories of Coltrane and Lumkili became exchanged at some point. That doesn't help does it? I think Lumkili is plainly the percussion-y 12 minute track and Memories is plainly the 8 minute track.
