medjuck Posted September 25, 2013 Report Posted September 25, 2013 I've been listening to the Jubilee shows in chronological order while I work out or drive to LA. I'm missing quite afew of them but the one I don't have which I'd most like to hear is the 60th which has amongst other guests Ivie Anderson and Bing Crosby. I'm pretty sure Crosby is the first white singer or musician to be on the show. (Jack Benny showed up earlier and Johnny Mercer a couple of shows later.)Anyone have access to it or know where i can get it.BTW I highly recommend these shows: Guests include Ellington, Basie, Benny Carter, Art Tatum and many people I've never heard of who are petty good. You also get to hear what was going on during the recording ban of 1943. Quote

BeBop Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 Sorry, I had trouble posting even a link from my mobile. All I wanted to do is make you aware of this widely available CD (part of an AFRS series). I wouldn't pay that much either. Mine was under US$10. Quote
medjuck Posted September 27, 2013 Author Report Posted September 27, 2013 16.99 and free shipping on eBay.I found it for $8.95 and $3.99 from an Amazon re-seller-- which I find easier to do than E-Bay. Thanks for all the help people.(Now I just hope it doesn't turn out to be "nothing special". Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 (Now I just hope it doesn't turn out to be "nothing special". Even then ... Maybe the hep blurb by "The Stomach That Walks Like A Man'" in between the tracks might make for some very "period-correct" amusement ... Quote
