Umbrella Music Fest 2013 Schedule Announced!!

THE EIGHTH-ANNUAL UMBRELLA MUSIC FESTIVAL COMES TO CHICAGO NOVEMBER 6-10

Umbrella Music is pleased to announce the full schedule and lineups for the 2013 UMBRELLA MUSIC FESTIVAL, which will take place in Chicago from November 6th-10th. Lauded as "the most impressive and adventurous jazz event of the year" by the Chicago Reader, the Umbrella Music Festival consistently presents some of the most innovative jazz and improvised music from around the world.

The festival opens with two nights of FREE concerts known as EUROPEAN JAZZ MEETS CHICAGO, co-presented by Umbrella Music and eight different European consulates and cultural organizations. This groundbreaking collaborative format, in its seventh incarnation, will take place at the Chicago Cultural Center on Wednesday, November 6th, and Thursday, November 7th.

Then, from Friday, November 8th, through Sunday, November 10th, the music moves to one of Chicago's best new venues for creative music – Constellation. This is the first year that the festival will depart from the three venues that host the weekly Umbrella Music series' that take place throughout the year - Wednesdays at the Hideout, Thursdays at Elastic, and Sundays at the Hungry Brain. Even with this move however, the festival continues to celebrate and highlight these three ongoing Umbrella Music productions. But the great acoustics, adequate size, and comfortable atmosphere of Constellation, the venue that has quickly become the center of the scene for creative and improvised music in Chicago, should serve the festival and its audience quite well.
