mr jazz Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 A favorite artist of mine for many years! Happy Birthday! Quote
Milestones Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 Happy birthday indeed! I'm thinking Jimmy is 88? Somewhere around there anyway. I've seen him only once in concert, about 10 years ago. He was head-and-shoulders the best musician on the stage. Quote
Cyril Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 A few days late, but better late then never. You already did it in the 'Today's Birthdays thread' Quote
Justin V Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 I've seen him twice with Tootie and fronting a couple of big bands, and he was fantastic every time. It's always a bit of a shock hearing that huge, complex sound coming out of a man of such small stature. He has such a distinctive sound as a saxophonist and composer/arranger and has a great sense of humor (which comes through in his music), and I'm so happy that he is still with us and active. Happy Birthday, Mr. Heath. Quote
