CraigP Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 Drew Gress recently released his fourth CD, The Sky Inside, with essentially the same group, consisting of Tim Berne, Ralph Alessi, Craig Taborn and Tom Rainey. Here's an excerpt from the review on my blog: "There’s always something interesting going on with Gress’s arrangements, a sense of motion and intricacy underneath while the horns play with and around each other. While his compositions strike a balance between melody and abstraction, In Streamline stands out because it is simply, unabashedly, beautiful." You can read the whole review here. Quote
jlhoots Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 I'm surprised that nobody seems to care. I do. I have the CD & am enjoying it. Quote
.:.impossible Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 I care. I'm just generally two to ten years behind the new release schedule. I appreciate CraigP including a manageable amount of text with the cover art, as opposed to an entire press sheet, or just the cover art. Quote
7/4 Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 Looks interesting, it's been on my want list for a few weeks. Quote
Clunky Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 listened to this on Slopify and thought its sounded very good. Quote
CraigP Posted November 7, 2013 Author Report Posted November 7, 2013 Thanks for the comments, I'm glad people are liking this CD, the group is just killer. Quote
niels Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 Yep, agree! Got the record last week and listened to it a few times now. I think this maybe is my favorite album of Drew Gress with this band yet. Quote
