jlhoots Posted December 7, 2013 Report Posted December 7, 2013 I really like that Buika album & a few (very few - Brooklyn Babylon, Fred Hersch, maybe the Burton) of the others. Quote
xybert Posted December 7, 2013 Report Posted December 7, 2013 I find the inclusion of the Best Improvised Jazz Solo category to be really fascinating. Does Downbeat even include a category like that in their polls? The thought of a committee intently listening to particular solos and self consciously trying to pick the best one... yeah i find that really intriguing, not necessarily in a bad way, just sitting here on a sunday morning the thought of it is quite mind blowingly surreal. Niko Posted December 7, 2013 Report Posted December 7, 2013 always fascinated to see that there does exist a world where artists like terence blanchard or christain mcbride do fulfill the "new miles" or "new mingus" promises that were ascribed to them when i discovered jazz 20 years ago... Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted December 7, 2013 Report Posted December 7, 2013 I know all of my favorites made the list. Quote

danasgoodstuff Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 For a moment there I thought "Stadium Jazz" was a new Grammy category, not song title... Quote
