jazzbo Posted November 15, 2014 Report Posted November 15, 2014 (edited) Yes. . I think the most important part of any sonic reporting is "on my system." I listen regularly to four systems (two in my house, one at my parents', and one at my girlfriend's) and different vintage cds and masterings sound preferable in different systems. And my main system is very flexible so I can tailor bloated bass, make the best of dynamics that are there, etc. I've found that new masterings often sound less listenable on 'nineties players than more recent players, and vice versa sometimes. And I often used to prefer one on headphones and another on speakers. There's little absolute so if something sounds good to you, it is good, and there may be no reason to move to another. erwbol Posted November 15, 2014 Report Posted November 15, 2014 Next year I'll be back on speakers with a new amp. It will be fun to see if I feel the same about the new discs I've bought over the past years. I usually keep the old discs, but store them in a separate place. Quote
