Anyone know of a comprehensive way of checking out copy proctection status of new releases / reissues. We all know EMI material is CC in Europe, what about Columia/Sony.

I gather the new Bad Plus disc on Sony is CC but don't know if this applies to the euro version only.

What about the new Duke Legacy releases. The whole issue is certainly causing me to stall purchasing stuff until I know it's clean. So is there any website /resource keeping track of this customer-unfriendly practice?

Not sure Adrien how to find out individually, but the www.jpc.de (also having an english site) do always note when a record is copy protected (which is a great service as most other online shops don't do this)

So I normally check first what they have put on their webside as remark before buying anything ....

Cheers, Tjobbe

EDIT: link to JPC webpage (in English)

Are you saying that EMI discs are NOT CC in Europe? As far as I know, many of them are.

The only copyprotected jazz CDs I've seen so far are the european EMI CDs (Blue Note etc) and a few pop-jazz top sellers on Universal (Diana Krall) and BMG (Kenny G).

I checked the latest Sony jazz CDs on Amazon.de and none of the already released ones mentions "kopiergeschützt" (check this Harry Connick CD) The Elllington CDs are listed but not yet available, so the information is not reliable.
