JSngry Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 Yeah, I know some people aren't that into Be3tty Carter, but holy shit, jesus, really? People will say she's not paying attention to the melody or that she's not paying attention to the lyrics, but uh-uh, if she was not paying the deepest of attentions to those things, she'd not land right and time/space would be worse than broken, it would be irreparably sprained, like, never walk right again groin sprain, y'all not hear me and/or think I'm kidding, but hell no, noooo...this is some serious timing, and check out the dancing and all that, if it's scary, well, it should be scary. It is scary. But so what? You'll live, and if not, oh well, guess you shoulda thought about that before now, right? Jo Stafford Yin/Betty Carter Yang, All The Squares Go Home (per Cynthia & Jerry). MomsMobley Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 Betty was brilliant and those who dislike her reveal more about their musical limitations-- their black aesethetic or lack thereof-- than hers. also for many years Betty lived a pretty short walk from where Cecil still lives in Fort Greene.re: nets...dejohnette here making more music here than every second he's ever played (or ever will) with fucking Jarrett (granted dem check's are likely bigger)-- Quote
JSngry Posted July 2, 2015 Author Report Posted July 2, 2015 Whole-body swing. You can sense it on the records, but actually seeing it...damn.Social Call. most beautiful song title ever? Horn players don't phrase it this well, how can they, they don't have syllables, vowels, consonants? The ones who figure it out, those are the players. Quote
