danasgoodstuff Posted November 15, 2015 Report Posted November 15, 2015 This Derek Bailey album has been in my music room player for months now so that when I'm done with whatever else I'm listening to this automatically comes up next as a braceing palette cleanser. Kinda reminds my of John Fahey's the New Possibility that way, anyone else hear it this way? Quote
clifford_thornton Posted November 16, 2015 Report Posted November 16, 2015 It is a palette cleanser and hey, you wouldn't be the first to notice a connection between Bailey and Fahey (I'd say Henry Kaiser found it in the 1970s). Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted September 22, 2016 Author Report Posted September 22, 2016 Just got Bailey's Standards which is like the first stab at Ballads...more thoughts later. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 they're both essential. I find it hard to think of a Derek Bailey album that isn't worth hearing at the least, and I find myself gravitating to his work (specifically soli) more and more over the years. The mood doesn't matter - he's just so beautiful. Quote
