HutchFan Posted June 14, 2017 Report Posted June 14, 2017 Again: Mahler: Symphony No. 3 / Rafael Kubelik, Bavarian Radio SO (DG) Quote
soulpope Posted June 14, 2017 Report Posted June 14, 2017 Motivated by forum member "HutchFan" .... : Kudos for the outstanding Bavarian brass and Marjorie Thomas is just perfect in her fourth-movement solo .... recorded "live" in 1967 with very good sound (captured by german radio) .... as this dates from around the same time as the studio Mahler 3 mentioned by "HutchFan" comparisons are inevitable - both accounts are excellent, probably the live athmosphere injects even more energy to the swift conducting of Rafael Kubelik - but both versions not to be missed at all ....
