Referentzhunter Posted September 13, 2022 Report Posted September 13, 2022 Just beginning to discover the Enigma Variations. I heard the barbirolli recording for the second time and thought; Wow, ... i don't like the Enigma Variations. Some have Barbirolli's recording in high esteem but i think it is wayyy to bombastic and it isn't enigmatic at all. I hated it ! Luckily i found this disc. Andrew Davis does the trick (he is well known for his Elgar recordings) I think i have to listen to Pierre Monteux's version to in the future also. Quote
