jeffcrom Posted August 31, 2018 Report Posted August 31, 2018 So my oldest friend and sometime musical partner, a writer by trade, spent the afternoon with George Clinton. This article in Flamingo magazine was the result. http://www.flamingomag.com/2018/08/27/george-clinton/ Quote
JSngry Posted August 31, 2018 Report Posted August 31, 2018 “I’ve worked with [avant-garde composer] John Cage, and the strange thing is that you would think there couldn’t be two more different kinds of musical artists than John Cage and George Clinton. But that’s the closest I’ve ever experienced.” Hello! P-Funk is still on my bucket list of concerts to experience. They've never been in a town I was in at a time I could make. Those guys run deep. paul secor Posted August 31, 2018 Report Posted August 31, 2018 I have to admit that I've never been a George Clinton fan, but I enjoyed the heck out of that article. Quote

I saw Clinton & P-Funk on an outdoor concert series back in Kansas City, back in late September of 1996, and it was quite a show. I think Maggot Brain was the only Clinton artifact I'd ever owned, though I did have a few Bootsy Collins records at various times. I don't remember any specifics about the night, but I've never seen so damn many people on the same stage (at the same time), save for the one time I was personally involved in a performance of Maher's 8th.
