...that was a slow blues and used quarter tone harmonies in the section work? Not sure it was released at the time or if it's an archive thing or what exactly. I thought I had it on my hard drive but don't. It's not "Headquarters", that's not it. It's a slow blues. Ring a bell with anybody?

ok, my bad, it was Headquarters and it has nothing to do with a slow blues. It was the bridge I was thinking about, some really fucked up shit!

I would like to hear something like I thought I was remembering, though.

First track that comes to my mind is "Kansas City Blues", one of the live tracks from the "Autumn" album - that starts with a long solo by Frank Strozier. Would have to dig in deeper to find others ...

Ordered a copy of the Lost Tapes Vol.2 last night after reading your question. It's great they get that stuff in circulation, and that BGO reissued some Columbia albums - the Wounded Bird reissues gor for big money, at least when I look for them. Plus, I have all the LPs.
