Needed some "feelgood music" and Sister Sledge never disppont .... btw who would have thought back then that 45 years later this would be hailed as genre classic - and rightly so ....

The Teskey Brothers - The Winding Way

My first listen to this band.

That's a hell of a voice and they seem to have nailed the sound, perhaps a bit too slavishly retro but I like this, a lot so far.

Wondering what @soulpopethinks of them?

Your description nails it .... great singing, but recurringly evokes "voices from the past" ....

👍

They have just announced a concert in my local park next summer, I'm tempted. Sounds like summer evening music to me.

More warming stuff courtesy of George Jackson, who owns an extensive chapter in the bible of Southern Soul`s unheralded heroes for sure .... all his Kent compis are outstanding, but this one would my first choice if requiered ....

And the one I own, purchased on your recommendation!

Supporting musicians include Richard Davis, Mike Mainieri, John Tropea.  Same era as "Season of Lights", so largely redundant, but quite beautiful.

The deal Ace/Kent struck to exploit the Hotlanta vaults was a dream come true for Southern Soul aficionados .... especially Vol 1 "Good Guys Don`t Always Win" and this one come with Soulpope`s unreserved 🥳"Seal Of Approval"🥳 ....
