felser Posted August 13, 2020 Report Posted August 13, 2020 Great article, and I love those Oneness of JuJu albums. Got to see them live ca. 1976 at Leo Gadsen's concert series at the Ethical Society in Philly. Small turnout but great show. Quote
felser Posted August 14, 2020 Report Posted August 14, 2020 This topic needs more conversation! One of my all-time favorite cuts, used it as opener to a BFT several years ago. Quote
mjazzg Posted August 14, 2020 Report Posted August 14, 2020 That's a fascinating read, thanks for posting. Only in the last few months have I really become aware of and listened to JuJu and very much regretted not doing so sooner. I tend to the freer end of things so the shift to Oneness of Juju hasn't quite lit the same fire for me yet but I'll be revisiting. I'm searching out this compilation and given Strut's past efforts the news of their ongoing commitment to the catalogue can only be great news. As an aside, I vividly remember go-go arriving here in UK and finding it really exciting. Quote
mjazzg Posted August 14, 2020 Report Posted August 14, 2020 Just got to track 3, Byard Lancaster 'Drummers Of Ibadan'. I need that in my life now! I feel a purchase coming on Quote
mjazzg Posted August 14, 2020 Report Posted August 14, 2020 Did this get posted previously? Not too tangential, I hope Quote
