Michael
Going thru a pile of Roscoe CDs from the FreeJazz collection/hoard to price for sale and am listening to this one. Definitely won't be selling. Produced by the late Bob Koester and supervised by Chuck Nessa. Chuck, if you are around, can you recall anything this session? I understand its been over 50 years so sorry in advance for asking but its amazingly fresh, even today... thanks for any info you can provide mike
Rabshakeh
My favourite "jazz" record of all. The toddler's middle name is "Roscoe" after I played it to my wife whilst pregnant. I'm interested to hear anything that Chuck recalls.

Chuck Nessa
I remember the sessions and the rehearsals. In fact Roscoe called me last week to ask if I remembered when the rehearsals began. My answer was about a month before the first session. I think he was trying to nail down some publishing information. I also remember taking a phone call in the control room letting Lester Bowie know he was a new daddy - Fontella had given birth. I scribbled a note informing Lester and passed it into the studio. Unfortunately the note was passed to Lester Lashley.

Interesting that the beginning of Bowie's solo on Sound sounds so much like a baby crying.
