Don't think there is any alternative beside the Chronological Classics.

The 1939-1942 Earl Hines band output is spread on the following Classics:

- 538 (1937-1939)

- 567 (1939-1940)

- 621 (1941)

- 876 (1942-1945)

Ghost, I have - 528 (1935-1937) and

- 876 (1942-1945) and you know, the sound really isn't bad at all! Both are better than average Classics, IMO....I just put on 528 a couple days ago,(I know before your stated dates, but then again, I thought from the title of the tread there were 2 Earl Hines anyway!) and really like it...have 876 on now(Feel like such a nerd saying 876) and it is good, some Eckstine vocals, but feels in a way like early R&B....

The best source for these 1939-45 sides is the two RCA "Jazz Tribune" albums, entitled "The Indispensable Earl Hines", vols. 1/2 (1939-40, 74321264072), and vols. 3/4 (1939-45, 74321264082). Alternate takes are also included.
