Film/TV composer Gerald Fried has died at the age of 95.

Among other things, he scored epsidodes of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Star Trek.  His music for the Star Trek episodes "The Doomsday Machine" and "Amok Time" is very recognizable, as it was tracked through the series, particularly the Klingon battle music.

As an exotica fan, I expecially love Fried's RCA album Orienta, credited to the Markko Polo Adventurers.  The track "Rain in Rangoon," composed for the album by Vernon Duke, is stunning, and arguably one of the greatest exotica tracks ever written.
