Brad Posted 31 minutes ago Posted 31 minutes ago For Record Store Day, a LP is coming out with Cafe Society material on one side (previously issued in many forms) and material said not to be previously issued of Bird at Lindsay’s Sky Bar in Cleveland in 1951. Losin doesn’t have this session so presumably it’s new and discovered. It will also be out on cd, available December 11. This is the blurb: “Side two contains ultra-rare, never-before-issued live tracks recorded in 1951 at Lindsay's Sky Bar in Cleveland, a venue from which few, if any, other tracks survived. Featuring drummer Roy Haynes, trombonist Jimmy Knepper, pianist Walter Bishop Jr. and bassist Teddy Kotick…” I will be ordering the cd. Curious about the quality. Quote
Dan Gould Posted 26 minutes ago Posted 26 minutes ago I probably need to hear more about the quality before I order. Thanks for the heads up. Quote

The blurb also says (which I initially left out) that “they are the stuff that ornithologists’ ""dreams are made of""--not only for their rarity, but for their quality. This RSD Black Friday 2026 LP includes detailed liner notes and is mastered from the original tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl." Columbia is also reissuing Summitt Meeting At Birdland but that’s been previously reissued. At any rate, just LP, as far as I can tell. Quote
