Big Wheel
I've forgot to mention this earlier, but my radio station is playing most of Andrew Hill's recordings (as a leader and a sideman) this week. The show will be on mostly in the mornings (5am--1pm ET). You can listen at http://www.whrb.org and check out the program guide at http://www.whrb.org/pg/MayJun2004.html . Also on tap this month is a big Mingus program, among others. On Now: Divine Revelation
Rooster_Ties
Thanks for the tip!! I'm listening now. Hope you're gonna play "Blue Black" and/or "Nefertiti" and/or "From California with Love" -- none of which I've ever heard before. Again, thanks for the tip!! I can't believe that you have never heard these? I just listened to Nefertiti yesterday. It is one of the first Andrew Hill LPs I heard when I was still in college. The public library in Ithaca, NY had a copy, which I borrowed took to the music library and recorded onto cassette. A couple of years later I found it on LP and then last year I was able to get the CD reissue as well as the other East Wind recordings. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed this gem with Richard Davis and Roger Blank. You better get it.
Rooster_Ties
I will one of these days. Dusty Groove periodically has it, as a Japanese Import -- but they always seem to be out of stock when I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on some other Dusty Groove stuff. One of these days, eventually, I'll get to them.
relyles
I don't know Tom. I might have to convene a secret meeting of the board of Hillaholics anonymous to make sure you still meet the membership criteria. On another note, sadly I can't get the stream here at work and when I tried to get it from home this morning I had problems. Hopefully I can get it working at home in time for the 24 hour blast starting Friday night.
Big Wheel
Sadly, I do not think we managed to get the East Wind LPs. The rest of those '70s albums are great though. I think I do remember seeing "From California with Love" in the bin. My guess is that it will be played right when the program starts again on Friday at midnight ET.
