Hardbopjazz
Silver in the Bronx. I saw this and thought of picking it up, but thought to ask first if anyone here heard it before. If so, what do you think of it? Edited May 7, 2004 by Hardbopjazz
Tom in RI
I have this and I like it. I think their first disc, "Catch the Feeling", is somewhat better though. The Bonx Horns, Mitchell Frohman, Bobby Porcelli and Ray Vega, all played with Tito Puente. Hence, Silver in the Bronx contains Latinized versions of Horace Silver compositions. Pete C
The Bonx Horns, Mitchell Frohman, Bobby Porcelli and Ray Vega, all played with Tito Puente. I'm not familiar with Frohman by name (though I've probably heard him), but Porcelli & Vega are both great. I've always enjoyed Tito's Latinized takes on hard bop standards. And Vega's album Boperation is really nice too.
JohnS
The Bronx Horns have had very favourable review in Cadence-but then most recordings do. Not heard the discs myself though.
