  1. And no mention yet of Kevin Spacey? Really disappointed to hear this about Kevin, he....was one of my favorite actors.....2nd man has come forward https://www.thedailybeast.com/second-spacey-allegation-rocks-london-theaterland-hotline-opened Someone needs to watch every episode of Family Guy closely, and see who else he outed as a predator that apparently no one ever noticed... http://deadline.com/2017/10/family-guys-kevin-spacey-joke-resurfaces-2005-stewie-basement-1202197863/
  2. Andy Dick, living up to his name.... http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/rambling-reporter/andy-dick-fired-movie-sexual-harassment-claims-1053162 But, Gwyneth was not a typical victim. . She was not an office worker , with 3 kids, barely making ends meet....Gwyneth and her then boyfriend could have ended Harvey's rein of terror, if they had come forward 2 decades ago. I'm sure they heard of other stories even back then. and even if they couldn't convince others to come forward publicly, I am sure there would have been stories told with actresses talking to magazines, etc. She and Brad Pitt put their careers first. and Hundreds of women were victimized because of their selflessness.
  3. ICYMI, people outside of Harvey Weinstein are pure scum...including....Barbara WaWa, WTF???? Barbara Walters wasn't sympathetic when Corey Feldman admitted abuse by Hollywood pedophiles http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/gossip/corey-feldman-talked-hollywood-abuse-barbara-walters-2013-article-1.3568826 Reese Witherspoon reveals she was sexually assaulted by a director at 16 http://ew.com/movies/2017/10/17/reese-witherspoon-reveals-she-was-sexually-assaulted-by-a-director-at-16/ Jennifer Lawrence: Male producer said she was 'perfectly f---able' after being told to lose weight http://ew.com/movies/2017/10/17/jennifer-lawrence-male-producer-said-she-was-perfectly-f-able-after-being-told-to-lose-weight/
  4. No love for Shane???? I have to admit, never saw the complete film til a few years ago (you know how it is, flip by a movie, it's halfway through, give it 5 minutes, flip away) so watched it from the beginning on tcm one night....wow... Minor spoiler alert....I really like the fact that 2 men are in love with the same woman (Jean Arthur, in her last film role) but neither is a bad man, no back stabbing takes place. Alan Ladd's best performance. IMHO. Van Heflin is also very good in a somewhat thankless role, and Brandon deWilde is superb as the boy.... thought this was interesting, from the Wiki page for Shane.... Stevens wanted to demonstrate to audiences "the horrors of violence". To emphasize the terrible power of gunshots, he created a cannon-like sound effect by firing a large-calibre weapon into a garbage can. In addition, he had the two principal shooting victims—Palance and Elisha Cook Jr.—rigged with hidden wires that jerked them violently backward when shot. These innovations, according to film historian Jay Hyams, marked the beginning of graphic violence in Western movies. He quotes Sam Peckinpah: "When Jack Palance shot Elisha Cook Jr. in Shane, things started to change."[9]
  5. It's pretty scummy to say to an actress , hey, sleep with me, and you will get a role....it's quite another to just flat out rape them.... 5th woman to say she was raped by Weinstein, (this time a pretty big name, at least she was, Lysette Anthony )how many women did this asshole rape that haven't come forward???? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/afp/article-4981326/British-actress-fifth-women-accuse-Weinstein-rape.html
  6. here is a copy of the restored version (though I notice some minor flicking, perhaps from copying it from blu-ray ) at least this guy has a link to buying it on amazon below the video
  7. Had you seen Too Late for Tears before? Before Eddie Muller became a TCM Noir host( at 10 am Sunday , makes no sense) Eddie had a lot to do with getting the film restored and aired the restored version on TCM, as it had fallen into Public Domain hell , mainly crap shortened versions you could buy for a $1 at bargain stores. Eddie Muller really made it sound interesting, so I stuck around to watch it (half expecting to say, it's ok, why build it up so much?) well, very glad I gave it a shot. I don't know how well it did originally, or how good the reviews were at the time, but it's a shame it isn't a much better known film.....
  8. Kicked out of the Motion Picture Academy... more people have come forward....even beat up some men, and early on in his career.... https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/violence-threats-begging-harvey-weinsteins-30-year-pattern-of-abuse-in-hollywood/2017/10/14/2638b1fc-aeab-11e7-be94-fabb0f1e9ffb_story.html?utm_term=.828a0693e7bf
  9. could be more.... https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/why-did-nbc-news-let-the-weinstein-blockbuster-get-away-once-again-questions-mount/2017/10/11/d845714a-ae98-11e7-be94-fabb0f1e9ffb_story.html?utm_term=.38471fc7b743 MUCH MORE!!!! http://www.tmz.com/2017/10/12/weinstein-contract-the-weinstein-company-sexual-harassment-firing-illegal/
  10. True, but Cosby is 80, and blind. And hasn't had a successful show in a few decades now. Look at Woody Allen. As creepy as him marrying his Step-Daughter was, I've seen them together in whatever that documentary was that I guess he shot with his parents , Soon-Yi and others...they actually seem like there is a real connection between them...still creepy, but not illegal. But the stories of child abuse (which were never proven, but Dylan and Ronan Farrow believe did happen) sure hasn't kept anyone from working with Woody Allen, have they? Roman Polanski vaginally, and anally raped a 13 year old, didn't go to jail and still had a career afterwards... Harvey will probably be based in Europe from now on, as some of his "alleged" crimes no doubt have happened before the statute of limitations will have run out. Some up and coming directors and actors will work with him, knowing that he can't do to them, what he did to others ...in theory
  11. I'd hate to think what the others could get away with then Harvey wasn't just about sex...from Wiki, so you just know it's all true.... Managerial style and controversies While lauded for opening up the independent film market and making it financially viable, Weinstein has been criticized by some for the techniques he has allegedly applied in his business dealings. Peter Biskind's book, Down and Dirty Pictures: Miramax, Sundance and the Rise of Independent Film,[8] details criticism of Miramax's release history and editing of Asian films, such as Shaolin Soccer, Hero and Princess Mononoke. There is a rumor that when Harvey Weinstein was charged with handling the U.S. release of Princess Mononoke, director Hayao Miyazaki sent him a samurai sword in the mail. Attached to the blade was a stark message: "No cuts". Miyazaki commented on the incident: "Actually, my producer did that. Although I did go to New York to meet this man, this Harvey Weinstein, and I was bombarded with this aggressive attack, all these demands for cuts. I defeated him."[19] Weinstein has always insisted that such editing was done in the interest of creating the most financially viable film. "I'm not cutting for fun", Harvey Weinstein said in an interview. "I'm cutting for the shit to work. All my life I served one master: the film. I love movies."[12][20] Another example cited by Biskind was Phillip Noyce's The Quiet American, whose release Weinstein delayed following the September 11 attacks, due to audience reaction in test screenings to the film's critical tone towards America's past foreign policy. After being told the film would go straight-to-video, Noyce planned to screen the film in Toronto International Film Festival in order to mobilize critics to pressure Miramax to release it theatrically. Weinstein decided to screen the film at the Festival only after he was lobbied by star Michael Caine, who threatened to boycott publicity for another film he had made for Miramax. The film received mostly positive reviews at the Festival, and Miramax eventually released the film theatrically, but it was alleged that Miramax did not make a major effort to promote the film for Academy Award consideration, though Caine was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor.[8] Weinstein has also cultivated a reputation for ruthlessness and fits of anger. According to Biskind, Weinstein once put a New York Observer reporter in a headlock while throwing him out of a party. On another occasion, Weinstein excoriated director Julie Taymor and her husband during a disagreement over a test screening of her movie Frida.[12] In a 2004 newspaper article, in New York magazine, Weinstein appeared somewhat repentant for his often aggressive discussions with directors and producers.[21] However, a Newsweek story on October 13, 2008, criticized Weinstein, who was accused of "hassling Sydney Pollack on his deathbed" about the release of the film The Reader. After Weinstein offered $1 million to charity if the accusation could be proven, journalist Nikki Finke published an email sent by Scott Rudin on August 22 asserting that Weinstein "harassed" Anthony Minghella's widow and a bedridden Pollack until Pollack's family asked him to stop.[22][23] In September 2009, Weinstein publicly voiced opposition to efforts to extradite Roman Polanski from Switzerland to the U.S. regarding a 1977 charge that he had drugged and raped a 13-year-old, to which Polanski had pleaded guilty before fleeing the country.[24] Weinstein, whose company had distributed a film about the Polanski case, questioned whether Polanski committed any crime,[25] prompting Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley to insist that Polanski's guilty plea indicated that his action was a crime, and that several other serious charges were pending.[26]
  12. I don't know about that...of course, several are over 40 , so that downturn in their careers boat has already sailed There are going to be so many more that are going to come forward in the coming days/weeks....don't you feel Harvey was mainly in the film business just so he could be a serial predator? In the real world people that look like Harvey or Roger Ailes are still virgins.
  13. no one knew about this, NO ONE KNEW...except Seth...4 years ago...
  14. For some reason, I thought Harvey was going to be somehow involved with Pedophilia "situation" in Hollywood (Corey Feldman said the late Corey Haim was raped when he was 11) that has amazingly been covered up for so many years.... a whole lotta shit is going to hit the proverbial fan, so very many stories... just saw this one!!!! http://time.com/4977289/terry-crews-sexual-assault-hollywood-producer/
  15. Well, no doubt Sanchez "heard" it hit the knob, right? But....it could have nipped the hand as well....I just don't know if they would have overturned it, but yeah don't get caught up in the angles if it is worth challenging it or not. Of course the pitcher that gave up the granny, no issues there Baseball is sooooo very different than it was when we were growing up...heck, just the last decade or so...you cannot, YOU CANNOT allow the starting pitcher to stay out there and give up a run in the 7th...6th, heck even 5th now....doesn't matter how much of a role a starter is on. (not saying I agree with it) Especially an older guy...he'd get torched even worse than for not challenging the call. Guess Bruce Bochy is the father of removing pitchers in the 3rd/4th...
  16. geez... Politics , is a fairly small part of this....he did this during all administrations since the early 90s, correct? no, don't bring back the political forum, anything but that!
  17. not that part, the part that from 1990s til 2017 that NO ONE was willing to try to stop him. just 2 people with hidden cameras in their glasses (You know, what they did on 20/20 and Dateline decades ago) and they would have toppled a very disliked monster, and become heroes. Instead, much gnashing of teeth, soulda/coulda/woulda. But didn't career before everything....
  18. Hats off the the New Yorker and Ronan Farrow for this story. Reads like some bad 90's made for cable film....scummy producer gets a young, inexperienced woman to come to a seemingly innocuous meeting in conference room with several female staffers that after making the actress feel they are safe, then one by one...they leave, leaving Harvey all alone with the young actress...or a meeting/party then finding out it's a one man "party" in Harvey's hotel room, with him in robe, wanting a massage....and Harvey is a man that doesn't even begin to understand the meaning of the word no...in fact, it probably turns him on....you'll feel the need to shower after reading this story, if you can get thru it all. So many people unwilling to stop him cuz....career > than doing the right thing....audio link of Italian actress that recorded him with help of the NYPD after the article (amazingly, Harvey was somehow able to put that investigation on ice too) https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/from-aggressive-overtures-to-sexual-assault-harvey-weinsteins-accusers-tell-their-stories
  19. Ghost, I just think it's ridiculous to blame him , especially since the first video they got was inconclusive, to say the least. Should he had done it? yeah. but I think the team was focused on the footage, not just might as well challenge...besides, it might not have been overruled.
  20. I still don't think people realize just how good the Astros offense is ....for the series, Springer hit .412, Gattis .400, Gurriel .529, Reddick, .375 and...who and I forgetting? Oh yeah, Altuve .533, 632 OBP. Reddick drove in 9 RBI's for the Dodgers last year, in 155 AB's. had a career year this year at the age of 30, .314, 362 OBP. Kimbrel was throwing 99-100 and kept fouling them off, and if hitters don't swing at the slider...doesn't matter how hard you throw, they will hit it eventually . And Reddick hit a ground ball to the SS....only the SS was playing close 2nd cuz you know...you have to put a shift on every player now.....
  21. I've always really liked David Price...felt terrible for him that he has had so many less than stellar starts in the post season. I really hate it when someone fools me into thinking they are something they clearly aren't. A decent person http://deadspin.com/heres-why-david-price-blew-up-at-dennis-eckersley-1797187651
  22. yup. A film you sure hope isn't the first exposure a movie fan has to John Ford, or classic cinema....for some reason, it's on youtube...prove us wrong and tell us that it's the best film you have ever seen! I hear it's not all that violent....which makes me more likely to see it....
  23. He was Batman , the only Batman when I was growing up...still my favorite Batman... Glad he was able to work til the end. Awesome voice. Rest in Peace Mr West.
  24. heh, I was thinking, wow....I didn't know that Peter Lorre film about the hand was Originally the Hands of Orlac (I've never seen, only heard about Hands of Orlac) The film I was thinking of, the Beast with 5 Fingers plot is.... "In a turn-of-the-century Renaissance Italian mansion, its tyrannical owner, a one-handed, wheelchair-bound pianist, with a strong belief in the occult is..."(imdb gives away too much of the plot sometimes) Well, that's not the film I was thinking of ... (just how many films are there with pianists that lose a hand?) but digging some more, found the one I was thinking of....and still a Peter Lorre film, Mad Love from 1935 , which is a Remake of Hands of Orlac...never seen any of them....need to rectify that one of these days.... Both posters are cool so uploaded both
