  1. The weekly broadcast airs each Sunday 6-10AM Artist interview takes the final hour of the program with a Q&A with our guest followed by exclusive play from his/her new release. 08/05 Saxophonist/bandleader/composer Ravi Coltrane joins me with his new CD on Blue Note with appearances at Yoshi's in Oakland 08/06 & 7 http://www.yoshis.com/oakland/jazzclub/artist/show/2777
  2. According to Jewish law, if your mother is Jewish, than you are too. No ifs and or buts, and no other requirements whatsoever. Athiest, believer, non-believer, gay, straight, trans gender, mutant, circus clown, butcher, baker, yada yada etc.
  3. Hanley Ramirez has 54 RBI...only one Giant has more. Hanley Ramirez has a better slugging % than all but 1 Giant. We've been down this road B4, and according to you stats don't count. Aubrey Huff got 2 plate appearances today (and no hits) He's bating .150 but is a great clubhouse guy Any current combination of middle infielders for the Giants combined do not have 54 RBI. When Arias & Belt are your corner infield they're also less than 54 RBI combined too, but with the addition of Scutaro's 30 slightly edge out Ramirez combined. Over and Out
  4. SF Giants are getting excactly what they deserve, watching them screw things up time after time! Why isn't Ramirez in orange & black instead of uniform of the arch enemy? Giants sell out every game, but refuse to reward the fans by spending to improve on the trade market. What have they been doing, patting themselves on the back because they took 1st place while the Dodgers had major injuries? In case they haven't noticed, not only are they healthy again, but they've added production to the roster, and look to do more, and may be looking at SF in the rear view mirror. One more once, what is Hanley Ramirez doing in a Dodger uni instead of SF? Dodgers didn't give up much to get him....Ramirez would rather play short than third; the PERFECT player fot the Giants to pick up! They can restock the entire Dodgers farm system.....give them Crawford, Belt, Arias, Pill....the list goes on and on. What have they been doing at short? Overpaying middle of the road older, limited shortstops....now they commit to the young and still unproven Crawford ( as if he's the SS solution...HA what a joke!), while they could have had a proven solid power hitting/RBI producer, improve the middel defense, but instead are watching him get 5 RBI in the first 2 games of this series in Dodger freaking blue. Certain rabid Giants fans might have a coronary reading this, but the truth will set you free! Still a couple of days B4 the trade deadline; maybe they'll do SOMETHING to help themselves.
  5. Here they come....this is Victim #2 from the trial: HARRISBURG, Pa. -- A man who claims to be the unknown victim molested by Jerry Sandusky in a Penn State shower in a case that led to Joe Paterno's firing intends to sue the university for its "egregious and reckless conduct" that facilitated the abuse, his lawyers said Thursday. The lawyers have done an extensive investigation and gathered "overwhelming evidence" on details of the abuse by former assistant coach Sandusky, they said in a statement.... ( Associated Press )

  12. RIP He carried that show on his back every episode. The other players had their moments but George Jefferson killed it all the time!
  13. Depends on how much a one way player is worth. Nash doesn't play much "D". Don't get me wrong, I would love to have seen him in a Red Wing sweater, but Detroit is reported to have made Columbus a "substantial" offer for Nash and they wouldn't even return their phone calls. The only two free agent questions that remain to be resolved involve Shane Doan and Alexander Semin. Doan will most likely stay in Phoenix and Semin's reputation will probably land him in the KHL. Nash doesn't really seem like John Tortorella's type of player...I expect a stormy relationship. Emphatically agreed on Semin. Re. Mike S.'s post on Larry Robinson (I never figured out how to multi-quote): I'm a huge fan of Larry (and very familiar with him as a NJD fan and admirer of the old Canadiens), but I'm almost certain he doesn't want to be a head coach again, and truly believe he's best employed as an assistant/teacher. Robinson said in interviews at the Sharks' website that his wife especially wanted this move when the opportunity came up, to be much closer to grandchildren in CA. What you say about his resolve to not be the head guy; I can't see a guy like him not stepping up if asked to take the team to the 'next level' if he were asked. Maybe his addition as assistant/teacher helps take them there, which is why he was hired in part, but NHL, NFL etc. are copy cat leagues. The Stanley Cup Champions changed head coaches in mid-season (with one of the best coaches in Sharks history, BTW) so I'm just sayin' don't rule out this possibility if the club should flounder as they did this past season.
  14. Thank goodness! I've spent the offseason in fear so far, worrying that the Sharks would make give up Setoguchi plus who knows who for Nash. You're not being serious are you? FYI Setoguchi played the entire 2011 season with the Wild after being traded away last year!
  15. With teams that made deep runs in the playoffs, including the Champs, that changed head coaches in mid-stream, San Jose Sharks shook up the associate coaching staff big time. After finishing 7th and exiting the playoffs early figured that either GM Doug Wilson or coach Todd McLellan might be gone ( more Wilson I thought). That said Sharks have added assistant coach Jim Johnson and more importantly Larry Robinson comes in as well. McLellan has put up gaudy regular season win totals.... a final four appearance, but fell off a bit last year and I think may have lost his lustre slightly in the locker room. He had relatively young and little experienced assistant coaches, and saw the PK fall to 29th in the league which was supposedly going to be the focus for improvement. Anyway, if in fact McLellan has indeed lost the room, a championship calibre guy is already on staff to take the reigns.

  17. Paterno family statement after today's rulings: "The sanctions announced by the NCAA today defame the legacy and contributions of a great coach and educator without any input from our family or those who knew him best," the statement said. "That the president, the athletic director and the board of trustees accepted this unprecedented action by the NCAA without requiring a full due process hearing before the Committee on Infractions is an abdication of their responsibilities." When it's all said and done, the worst, filthiest, most disgusting events to ever come out of a university sports program, happended on 'Mr. Holier Than Thou's' watch and guidance. Screw the statue...have the freaking thing melted down, so that it has no value to anyone in any way in the future...like dumping Bin Laden's body in the sea; no moral martyrs to cry at it's feet and no pilgrimage to pray to St. Joe. Paterno was sought out when he was in his late 60's to take the head coaching job at Miami, which was coming off scandals and penalties of it's own, which pale in comparison. This is what Paterno was quoted saying: "Miami is a very quality institution that unfortunately has been hurt by all the shenanigans that went on there," he answered. "But to be honest with you, I didn't think a Penn State person would be a good choice for Miami. We're at the other end of the spectrum, and I don't think it's necessary for Miami to try to be Penn State. Miami needs to ... come to grips with the fact it needs more control."
  18. What I found very dissapointing and quite strange in the press conference announcing the penalties, not once was Joe Paterno the former university president's name mentioned by anyone. The sanctions were made as the direct results of the lack of leadership and poor judgement and cover up of the individuals mentioned in the Freeh Report; those same individuals who were fired and who were blamed in no incertain terms in the same report that the NCAA names as being far more complete, thorough (and expensive) than anything they could have come up with themselves.
  19. I'd love to see the Paterno family go silent. To me they muck up an already messy scene. Vowing to make their own independent investigation, or proclaiming all the evidence is not in concerning Joe; reports of how devestated the widow is upon the removal of the statue and that it's removal doesn't benefit the victims. The Paterno family issued a statement only hours later saying the statue's removal "does not serve the victims of Jerry Sandusky's horrible crimes or help heal the Penn State community." "We believe the only way to help the victims is to uncover the full truth," said the family, which vowed its own investigation following the release of the Freeh report. The family called the report "the equivalent of an indictment -- a charging document written by a prosecutor -- and an incomplete and unofficial one at that." ENOUGH ALREADY!!
