That cat could play. RIP.

It seems like everybody should know this record, but I keep finding people who don't so...

He really could play .... R.I.P.

Now he can re-join Danny Gatton in pluggers' heaven.

A Mishawaka lad, like the Candoli brothers. I preferred Emmons's steel-guitar version of Pachelbel's Canon to Neville Mariner's orchestra version. Jim, that Ray Price "Night Life" is a beauty.

I'll spin this later in his honor.

The 8 instrumentals Ray Price's Cherokee Cowboys issued on Western Strings which feature Emmons among other stellar players are well worth seeking out, as is his (Buddy's) tribute to Bob Wills even if Buddy wasn't all that as a singer.  Kinda the Les Paul of sit-down guitar.

An unusual outing:

From 'The Northstar Grassman and the Ravens': Musicians:

  • Sandy Denny - acoustic guitar
  • Richard Thompson - bass
  • Buddy Emmons - pedal steel guitar
  • Ian Whiteman - piano
  • Gerry Conway - drums
