Andrew Hill- Nefertiti

If you consider your self as Andrew Hill's fans, you must listen to Nefertiti.

Nefertiti was recorded by Hill on 1976 and to the best of my knowledge was not available on CD until it was reissued a few months ago. Andrew Hill features bassist Richard Davis who's (together with Paul Chambers) my all time favorite bassist and drummer Roger Blank. The music is beautiful and reminds me very much Hills recordings for Steeplechase: Devine Revelation and Invitation. Completely different from Hill of the 60's. No self-respecting Hill's fan should be without this album...

I'd second that assessment. A very nice record. And Richard Davis would have to be one of my favorite bassists as well. I've had this on vinyl since the early days of my Hill obsession. Beautiful cover, too, at least on the LP. I assume the CD is the same.

Am I the only one who's dragged by Roger Blank's playing?

(Not dragged by anything else on the record, though.)

An Andrew Hill / Richard Davis duo album would have been an excellent idea.
