B. Goren.
If you consider your self as Andrew Hill's fans, you must listen to Nefertiti. Nefertiti was recorded by Hill on 1976 and to the best of my knowledge was not available on CD until it was reissued a few months ago. Andrew Hill features bassist Richard Davis who's (together with Paul Chambers) my all time favorite bassist and drummer Roger Blank. The music is beautiful and reminds me very much Hills recordings for Steeplechase: Devine Revelation and Invitation. Completely different from Hill of the 60's. No self-respecting Hill's fan should be without this album... Edited August 13, 2005 by B. Goren.
Kalo
I'd second that assessment. A very nice record. And Richard Davis would have to be one of my favorite bassists as well. I've had this on vinyl since the early days of my Hill obsession. Beautiful cover, too, at least on the LP. I assume the CD is the same. MartyJazz
I'll second that. Definitely a very good purchase of a Steeplechase LP that I made when it was initially released. Bronislaw Kaper's "Invitation" is one of my favorite compositions and I love Hill's dense treatment of it.
Eric
I'll fourth that ... nice to have this one on CD
jazzbo
Sounds like a good one! Nice that it has reappeared.
kinuta
Nefertititi is great. His solo cd ' Homage' ( East West) is also excellent and well worth searching for.
Spontooneous
Am I the only one who's dragged by Roger Blank's playing? (Not dragged by anything else on the record, though.)
connoisseur series500
It is a very good cd. I've actually had a Japanese version for approx. two years, so it's been out on cd before.
Guest Chaney
Am I the only one who's dragged by Roger Blank's playing? (Not dragged by anything else on the record, though.) ← An Andrew Hill / Richard Davis duo album would have been an excellent idea.

jazzbo
So, those who have heard it, what might be the problem with Roger's drumming?
SEK
I had the Inner City (?) LP since way-back-when and now have the Japanese CD. I've never had a problem with Roger Blank's drumming.
