I'll just add that the Blakey Messengers that included Byrd, Mobley and Silver seemed to be particularly influential on a group of British jazzmen that included Ronnie Scott, Tubby Hayes, Jimmy Deuchar, Terry Shannon and Phil Seamen. Mobley's sound is there in Scott, there's something of Byrd in Deuchar (as well as Navarro, as you say), Shannon was hugely influenced by Silver and the Jazz Couriers' distinctive arrangements are reminiscent of those of the 1956 Messengers.
