  13. Tonight I saw the Jerry Bergonzi Trio with Dave Santoro on bass and Andrea Michelutti on drums at Manchester's Band on the Wall. Superb stuff!

  16. Yes, Clickin' With Clax is a winner. Returning to RCA, I also treasure the big band albums Blues Express and Portrait of Shorty, bought in the 80s.

  18. I've been enjoying that album for 25 years, along with Vol 2. Lovely stuff,I'll dust out Vol 2 for tomorrow so I can dig Boots Brown and his Blockbusters again. Ah, yes! Fine Blindfold Test material. Who would attribute gutbucket R&B to Rogers, Giuffre and other "effete" West Coasters?

  21. I forgot to back the Spanier recommendation. The 16 tracks by his Ragtime Band in 1939, which I have as "The Great 16" on RCA vinyl, are classics!
