...and keep your wild hairs in a National Socialist civilized format?
?? What's that supposed to mean?

I back this board up every week manually, just for the record.

They're even cheaper from HMV UK, £5.99 (approximately $9.40 or €8.40) each.
The Dragon 4CD-set is also available from HMV UK at £35.99 (approximately $56.50 or €50.40)

Both Paris dates are available from Amazon UK for £7.99 (approximately $12.50 or €11) each, including UK tax:

Highly recommended!

Please anybody give me a heads up on whereabouts of a copy of Jump Up. thanks
It's available from HMV Japan, but beware! Their shipping rates are sky high. Why don't you ask Hiroshi Tanno: hiroshi@earlyrecords.com if he can order it for you from HMV - his price will be a bit higher than HMV's, but his shipping rates are much lower.

I wanted to come back and champion the previous Bluebird reissue series of early blues. They started a complete Sonny Boy set (2 volumes issued) and got 4 discs of Tampa Red out before it died. For me the crowning achievement was the 2 disc set of Tommy McClennan. These reissues were produced by Vince Caro and Michael Omansky. I don't know either of them, but love the work they did. The sound is amazing and I even liked the graphics, especially the color combinations used. I know these have all been deleted, but you should look for them. These guys did it right. I saw a list of future releases planned but the series was killed. What a loss.
Now back to your regular programming.
Yes indeed. I agree that the Tommy McClennan was a crown jewel of that series. I play it quite often. But I would still reserve the supreme crown for the Robert Lee McCoy (Robert Nighthhawk). Before that disk, all reissues of that material were in absolutely terrible sound, with some tracks barely audible. That disk was like a dream come true for Robert Nighthawk lovers.
For Blind Willie McTell fans, also be advised that JSP just released McTell's complete known recordings from 1927-1940 on 4 disks at a very low budget price (about $21).
The McClennan and Robert Lee McCoy were indeed crown jewels, and deserved much wider attention than they apparently got.
I assume the wonderful earlier Bluebird series was killed because of poor sales. Let's just hope this series will do better, even though the current reissue programme might not be as extensive as the earlier one promised to be. Anyway, I'm glad they released the Blind Willie McTell, which wasn't part of the earlier series.

CDUniverse is selling them for $13.29, BOB for $13.99 and the box set for $174.99 at the moment.
Amazon UK is selling most Dylan SACDs for £9.99, which might be interesting for European board members.

When The Sun Goes Down - The Secret History of Rock 'n' Roll, Vol.9:
Blind Willie McTell - Statesboro Blues - RCA
This is one of the best discs in this wonderful RCA series. It features Blind Willie McTell's great songs and a few songs with others (which I don't like that much to be honest) from his Victor years (1927-1932) in beautiful sound. The shellac disc transfers were done by John R.T. Davies, the metal part transfers, audio restoration and CD mastering by Doug Pomeroy. Highly recommended for the McTell solo songs!

Sorry, Hans!
I should have checked for a prior posting on the new Morrison-I was just so excited hearing the song samples on the BN site-hadn't noticed this was brought up before.
Van delivers again!!
No need to apologize! You can post as many Van Morrison threads as you like, of course

Here's another Van Morrison Blue Note CD thread on this board.

Milt Jackson with Kenny Dorham, Jimmy Heath, Tommy Flanagan, Ron Carter and Connie Kay on the Riverside LP "Invitation" (available as Original Jazz Classics OJCCD-260-2). A very good album throughout with a haunting atmosphere and excellent playing from all involved.
I second that, it's a great album, one of Dorham's best IMO. I like the sombre mood very much, and, like you said, the playing is excellent.

I forwarded them all to spoof@ebay.com, without opening the links.
-
I keep getting spoof eBay e-mails, about three or four a week. Already got two today...

Happy birthday!

It may be that such threads as The Babe Thread--and a "we're all guys" tone in general--tend to make women feel unwelcome here. Again frankly, it seems as if some of you would rather ogle fantasy women than maintain an atmosphere in which you could interact with real women.
Bluenoter, I couldn't agree with you more. Such things as the "Babe Thread" were an embarrassment to me at the old Blue Note board, and it remains as much here. I see no useful purpose to the thread, and it's not like you can't find naked or partially clothed women on the internet if that's what you want. You'd think by now people would understand the meaning of the terms "hostile environment" and such, but when forced with the idea of giving up their toys, some still just respond with the kneejerk cries of "PC" and refuse to budge.
Well put, I fully agree.
