  6. Sorry to hear that. I happened to have the exact same thing happen to me with that same set some years back. I think I had it a few weeks before I had to let it go (and all the other ones over the months to come ...)
  7. I wish people would dig up some McPhee groups from the 80s. Lots of releases of solo material over the last few years-- Astral Spirits is working on another one from the 70s. His solo work is amazing, but his Po Music groups of the time are so horribly underrecognized. I'm sure recordings exist. 60 improvisations were recorded in 1990 for Linear B.
  8. I couldn't stand the first 3dom album, largely on account of Altschul.
  9. Enjoy Dragonfly Breath. Still one of the best improv records of our time.
  10. Very cool. Were you there specifically for TMM?
  11. The bassist Damon Smith turned me onto this exceptional box set which was self-released last year and can be purchased direct from SAJ: http://www.sven-akejohansson.com/saaj-shopdiscographie/80s-selected-concerts/ Five discs included, all exceptional upon the first couple listens: 1. with Mats Gustafsson & Wolfgang Fuchs 2. with Richard Tietlbaum 3. with Gunter Christmann, Fuchs, Torsten Muller, Tristan Honsinger, Alexander Von Schlippenbach 4. with Fuchs, Christmann, Honsinger 5. with Rudiger Carl, Steve Beresford, and Hans Reichel

Also news of an upcoming Otoroku release with Corsano & Edwards.
  13. No patience for this one. The movie is bullshit.
  14. I mean, it's all relative, but I personally wouldn't spend more than $30ish on any Hat Hut LP. This one usually goes in the $50-80 range.
  15. Excited for this. I never managed to find a remotely affordable copy of the LP.
  16. I think he's put out about 15 records since 2010. Admirable, and I'm sure they're all strong, but no way I can keep up.

    Steve Lacy

Some of that is his own, some he bought from Hat Hut.

    Steve Lacy

Not sure anyone else noticed, but earlier this summer Martin Davidson announced a disc of performances from the last Lacy tour featuring the Beat Suite band. The information has since disappeared from the Emanem site, so I assume this project has been cancelled. A pity. (I can think of one possible culprit, unfortunately)
  19. Thanks Jonathan for putting this out. I will try to pick up the CD soon. I have the LP, of course. Comments above are pretty much spot-on. This isn't Ran's best album, but it is indeed one of his most interesting and is worth a listen (if you want Ran's truest work of genius, IMO that's All That Is Tied). I hope people buy it.
  20. I read this article via Facebook. It was incredibly fascinating and informative, so thanks for your work.
  21. You might could count Smokestack which is a piano trio with two basses, but yeah. Ran has recorded only one piano-bass-drums trio ever: Sonic Temples with George & Ed Schuller. It's a remarkable record.
  22. 150 pages before the thing is even out. The Hoffmanites never disappoint. I will be getting the 6.
