Misses the entire point of the topic. Check. Makes it about R&B. Check. "The Hucklebuck". Check. Erroneously labels R&B classics as "jazz songs". Check. "Another way is to think of songs that just won't go away, but keep coming back." Brilliant! Now I get it! They must keep coming back because... they're... standards?
Food, water, shelter, sleep, and Antiques Roadshow (both versions, and thank you Hugh Scully), and I'm good. Oh- and American Pickers. I think I scored somewhere between 3 and 5. I still don't see anything about Monty Python in there. Wtf?
So, nothing we can do about Kay Starr now (except maybe stop posting those goddamn lyrics ), but how do we delay 2016? I know that's a tall order, but at least think about it.
I like Kay Starr, I'm a big fan of 3/4 time, I'm even okay with most early "rock and roll".... where did my life suddenly go so wrong? I definitely should have lied.
Yeah, I didn't major in architecture, but that's one odd combination of styles. I like your photography much more than I like the building. Somebody design a new building around that clock!
Weird. The clock and marquee... very much art deco. Everything about the architecture above that... very much not art deco. Big points for that clock, though!
Thanks for sharing a bit of Coltrane with us over the years, Dan. The photos are wonderful, and bring a smile that will last. Looking forward to hearing about Gracie's new companion, the new personality, and new adventures.
I'm nearly exactly the same age as both of you, Bev. I want to say that these were a popular choice at public schools (among the people providing and serving them, not among the kids who were expected to eat them) before they were a popular choice among housewives. I think I may have preferred other options when lunchtime rolled around at Dover School (like a stalk of celery with peanut butter, or better yet a bologna sandwich), but I eventually warmed to the idea as years went by. Much easier to accept one from a loving housewife than some strange woman in a smock and a hair net. And yes, it was "sticks" out here.
