  1. Did a similiar thing when I was beginning to learn fingerstyle guitar. Great advice Jim. As an additional thought, complete independence isn't likely the goal. More like, smartly orchestrated and fairly sophisticated interdependence? I have an ex-girlfriend, from many years ago, who is now quite independent of me. (yeah, I'm a dork) At any rate, Randy (of the super group Organissimo) also does an incredible job of such things. And never at the expense of musicality. Often four percussionists in one, and four times the fun! Greg
  2. A friend of mine who's finishing his PhD at UVa, and who is a gifted resources teacher, told me that 'gifted' is most often a curse. With high IQ comes a plethora of emotional issues. It isn't automatic that one will suffer, it just seems more likely. Moreover, most of the pressure these kids face is from within. Remember they are processing information at a rate far beyond the bulk of their peers and teachers. Many become lonely to the point of pathology. It is an incredibly sad and ironic story. It speaks to the difficulty of life, regardless of what one's supposed attributes might be. Just my two-cents.
  3. Thanks Joe and to everyone who has suggested Organissimo at the Blue Note label site. It would be awesome to have them on Blue Note, without a doubt. The idea of suggesting however was mostly intended as a playful thing to do. I realize our work will entail a bit more than pushing a button online. On the other hand, one never knows... Tonym, thanks also for the lead. When the time comes I will surely contact you and beg for assistance. If you don't mind a little beggin'. Jazzmoose, I'm a lover not a fighter. O.K. neither is really my strong suit. Chuck, I understand your initial response. I imagine you probably have seen a lot of questionable solicitations, and irrationalities, here. I can relate, I live just minutes outside of Flint. But seriously, no hard feelings.
  4. I'll be sending you an email shortly, if that is all right. Many thanks for the lead!! Greg
  5. Brownie, Thanks for the welcome. Regarding a world tour: yes Many serious thoughts, some calls being made, and a few seriously budding opportunities. Please send me a personal message regarding any favorite clubs you might have in your area. Maybe we could get them within walkin' distance. Europe would be great. It is my understanding that the Hungarian women are beautiful and the food is to die for. Oh wait, I meant German women... But Seriously, the above request for venues applies to any and everyone. Got a town with a semi-decent venue? We got good time music... I am seriously intent on spreading the good vibe that is Organissimo. Greg
  6. By the way, regarding my forum classification, I'm thinking instead of 'newbie'... maybe 'virgin'. Anti-Randian Altruism Suggest Organissimo Yeah, I'm thinking bumper stickers.
  7. Chuck is right. An introduction would have been more appropriate. I've been on the phone all day with agents and club owners from various parts of the country. So, I guess I still had my plaid used-car-salemen vibe in tow. Saw the Blue Note site. Noticed the "suggest artist" option, and the rest is now part of my ignoble history. Therefore, Hello, My Name Is: Greg Nagy I am the newly appointed manager for the incredibly smokin' hot band, Organissimo. This position is a great honor, for never in my life have I felt such love and happiness (except for that Al Green tune) from a musical pressing. Do they press CDs? Moreover, in a very short time, Organissimo will be unleashing a product that will likely change the very nature of the universe, as we 'think' we know it. Young children will dance and sing, and old women will weep. Politicians will learn the errors of their collective ways, and criminals will display emotive contrition, unconditionally. So, at the very least, given the nature of the world today, a vote for Organissimo as 'suggested artist', is a vote for humanity. Thank You P.S. In all seriousness, sorry about the faux paus.
  8. Vote for organissimo Just thought it would be kind of cool, as the sponsors of this website are worthy of some additional recognition, and it seems like a pretty democratic concept on Blue Note's end. Just click on "suggest artist" and scroll down to Organissimo. I noticed they weren't on the list yet, so I got it rollin'. Felt better than giving blood... well except for the cookies and juice thang.
