  1. Yes to both. We are days away from setting this up. g
  2. I hope you guys get airplay on major markets like WBGO and other major cities. Press in Downbeat, JazzIz and major city news papers wouldn't hurt. I don't know how to do it, but hey... ← Man, I just checked out their site! Very cool site and station indeed. Well, things are in place, so time will tell. That is, we've got someone working on it. This Is The Place is in the top ten on Chicago Public Radio (second largest such market), so... Also, in case you missed it, The Detroit Free Press gave organissimo a big send up last week. Best part of all, Number 15 on the CMJ Jazz Charts and climbing!!!
  3. spinning in Europe!!! Very cool!!!! g
  4. The new CD will be restocked at CDBaby at any moment! We sold out!! But you can get on an email notification list there, I see. Anyhow, with 22 stations across the country reporting organissimo's This Is The Place, on the top ten for album spins (up from nine stations last week) we are looking for bigger avenues of distribution. Very exciting stuff. Greg Nagy Big O Records
  5. Thanks for the reminder! If you've got the Cd and dig it, pls post a review on cdbaby.com. Theo, I was raised in Flint. In fact, I would have killed to have done some time in Mason...oh wait that is Jackson... uh.... nevermind.
  6. Yeah--only Nessa Records promos allowed. ← Hey look, this topic has been up for 8+ hours and no one payed attention. I brought it back up. I'm an "old time merchandiser". Where's the finger symbol? ← Thanks Chuck! Appreciate the support and your intention. We are going to have to pick your brain one of these days. I feel like I am waayyy over my head. Regardless, there is something kinda neat about doing the grassroots thing.
  7. Your eyes were all a sparkle. The demolition derby had you very excited. Embrace your inner red neck Jim!!!
  8. Big O Records and organissimo are getting much in the way of national airplay. This is exciting. Jim, Joe, and Randy are very fortunate to have such a cool bunch of folks here showing such love and support. Big O Records next release, due out this November, will feature Jimmy's other band Root Doctor and the tracks are sounding great. Recorded in the same world class studio as organissimo's CDs, by Glenn Brown, it will highlight even more of Jimmy's musical diversity, it features a track of Jimmy's fine singing voice. Joe has preordered twenty copies already. With all that said, the goal of all Big O Artists is to create and share. Nothing more, nothing less. Well, maybe an occassional deli tray at gigs would be cool. Greg Nagy Big O Records org rep RD Guitarist Hat Salesman
  9. Jim was playing the county fair on Tuesday. "not that there's anything wrong with that"
  10. Happy belated B-day!!
  11. The positive reviews are stacking up a CD Baby! Many thanks to any and all who posted. By the way, our record label Big O Records will be launching a new website soon. Root Doctor will be its second release and many other fine productions will follow. g
  12. Just handle it like Lonnie... "uh that's a good request...uhhh no, we ain't doing it, but here is one like it"
  13. You got that right, soul stream. Kickin' bass, nailing the chords, recalling the melody (and no real books on stage!!). Hell, I am amazed when Jimmy pulls off songs at our R&B gigs (bass lines, chords AND singing from distant memory). I couldn't make it last night, as I was feeling under the weather. But big things are just around the corner for organissimo and our new label Big O Records. Number 28 this week on the college jazz charts and climbing!! Our other project, Root Doctor, expects a release in November!!! It is great to share such music to a wider audience. g
  14. lmao It happens to the best of us. uh.... the sending messages to the wrong people, not the other part.
  15. lol unfortunately for me, there have been days when a new phone book was the highlight. Now put on Peaches and turn it up to eleven! g
  16. That somehow doesn't surprise me.. The gig is only 4 weeks away.. They better get the advertising out soon! ← Randy, they still haven't gotten the contract as we just verified the date. They will be advertising on radio and in print. And we will do a press release. Now go sit in your corner and behave!
  17. Oh man! .. A stick fumble frozen in time.. I'll never live it down.. ← Randy, even when you fumble, you score! That was an awesome take!!! Musical moments such as the stick fumble only make things more real. You da man!!! g
  18. Jim finally gets to double dip as his other band Root Doctor will also be playing the event. Capacity is 800, and it is bound to be a good time. Plus Bell's beer is pretty darn good. If you are into that sort of thing. Anyhow Sept 9th organissimo Two Shows 7:00-7:45 8:30-9:15 Root Doctor starts at 10:15 Jimmy gonna be tired.
  19. Man, the positive reviews at CDBaby keep stacking up. Plus, organissimo is getting some major airplay nationally, and the press is making contact. Very exciting stuff. Jim, Joe, and Randy, very publically, I want to add, Great Work! Love you guys. Thanks for the inspiration. Greg
  20. And drinks! ← Oh geez, I can see it now, Joe is gonna buy the whole bar a round "on me". "No really, Greg, 200 people from the board showed up, it was amazing..." Damn, I am screwed. Oh by the way, is this gonna be a CD release party?????? ← Hey Greg, Two more drinks. I'm coming up from Toledo with a buddy... ← It will be my pleasure!
  21. How Cool Is This?? Greg
  22. I am not sure I want mine to fry, lol, but if I don't change my ways.... Anyhow, not just 'grease', but greazzzzy with a 'z' baby!
  23. art is about compromise, those are dangerous words Dr. ← Don't you think it is though? --eric ← I would argue for 'cooperation'. Though, I guess some compromise is also implicit in any shared art form. Like language, sometimes to get our ideas across we have to rephrase or alter things. This would be, in essence, a compromise of our initial intention. On a related note, I've always loved how some artists, just prior to a show, argue that they only do art for "art's sake" with no compromise, or more succinctly and in their own terms, "only for myself". If it is only for themselves, why the showing? When I am approached on a gig, and someone requests a song I don't know, I usually say, "that is a great tune, but I am sorry we don't do that one". Unless, it is Metallica. Then, Jimmy A screams.... Hell yeah!!! and then proceeds to count it off.
  24. Zinga! lmao That was cold, Soul. But I liked it!
  25. Well, I've heard the finished product, and it is, simply put, awesome and beautiful. It is always hard telling whether musical moments will pay one a visit while recording, but I have to say they were here in spades. It is hard to pick a favorite, at this point, but I will say that it is soooo good, that we will likely be at odds as to which ones are the most loved. For me, I am leaning toward the one that starts with the letter "T". At any rate, I have uttered industry hyperbole with the best of them, but I sincerely feel this CD will do great, and more importantly it will touch souls. g
