  2. Any one heard her stuff? She was at teh WPG jazz festival last year and i just ate her stuff up!!! It was really good!! Kinda funk, fusion, Urban spices just great stuff, her cds are so mellow and inviting!! Peace Beyond Passion - In my favorite!! What are your thoughts?!
  3. Any one know how many Kind Of Blue Has sold.. I know i have 1 copy on vynil and 2 on cd lol
  4. Seeing that jelly roll morton, used to play this music to create the mood for others... i think i would be a valid disscusion to see how "jelly rolls" mood music has evolved and what it has turned into... What are your favorite albums to start off the night, or end it? Mine are Sketches Of Spain - Has NEVER failed to create a atmosphere.( and ever one i have told about it, i hove only heard of it not working once) Peace Beyond Passion - Me'Shell Ndegeocello (Not jazz, It's Urban) But in concert she is a killer bassist- all you groove hunters should check her stuff out, it has essence of rap( i say that with some hesitation SP?) unlike rap the drummer exists she plays bass its not a sound byte. Its just good shit!!! Anything by her is amazing Hope not to offend any one just was thinkin abotu it and wondering what else is out there
  5. Here didntk now he was on so much stuff, any that you can recomend that really stand out?
  6. Well i gaver a listen, and its not really my style, He had a beautiful sound!!!! i really liked his sound i know alot of my friends like more tune than solo, but not me, i like a longer solo, nad a 30 second tune. For me the solo were two short the solos didnt really feel like they were very connected, i would really like to know who his jazz influences are, to try and see where his phrasing came from, i liked at lot of his licks but the melodic devlopment of each of them kind of lacked, in toher words he polayed one great lick after another buit but forgot about each one instead of working with it the way joe lovano might. just my opinion, no intent of offending
  7. lol, its a resturant and the accustics suck, but its good times and iouwld say a 20 min bike ride would get you here

And anna lisa is a great vocalist!!! 9. This guy is from colorado and he is a trumpet player, a cross over from classical, i havent really given it a good listen, but first impresions. well i dont know yet, there's alot of head and not alot of solo, which ok i guess. i'll give'r a good listen and get back
  10. yeah he definatly plays the heads on these tunes
  11. i won the cd in a draw. and close on the kazoo!! it was actually slide wistle!!! my old high school emails with pat almost everyday and he invited them down to play at the concert... the reason it was slide wistle was becasue his mew album (the one this thread is about) starts off wit htoy instrumets pitched in b and f# and they palyed at the begining at the concerty then went to there seats. before the concert they had about 1 hour with pat and the band to ask questions. i coundlt go cuz i got a speeding ticket
  12. question.... was this recoding done before trane wrote "like sonny" because in his solo in green dolphin street he quotes it or writes it thats what i am trying to figure out!
  13. i jsut got it!! and it is absolutly amazing!!!!! we are studying it in our improv class and tranes solo on "on green dolphin street" and it is the craziest thing ever you can just hear the begining of his spiritual movement!! It is amazing!!! other opions on this?!!? disscusion?!?!? amazing i love jazz!!!
